Iran’s tourist attractions are a combination of natural wonders and historic sites, some of which date back to the dawn of civilization. Tehran, the capital city of Iran, boasts numerous historic and natural landmarks. Most of Tehran’s tourist attractions are in the form of museums, royal palaces, historic mansions, public parks and stunning nature attractions. Of the first category, namely museums, we can mention National Museum of Iran, Carpet Museum of Iran, National Jewelry Museum (home to Iranian Crown Jewels that includes some of the most precious diamonds in the world) and the sensational Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (that holds the largest collection of modern art outside Europe and the USA). Then comes the world-famous royal palaces of Tehran, Golestan Palace, Niavaran Complex and Sa'dabad Complex. Tehran bazaar that lies across from Golestan Palace, is the hub of commerce in the capital. It is far beyond a business center however, as it includes various historic sites in its massive area. Of Tehran’s extraordinary parks and nature attractions, one can name the famous Laleh Park, Ab-o-Atash Park, Mellat Park and the wonderful Persian gardens all around the city. We should also add the scenic mountainous districts of the north of Tehran, Darband and Darakeh, places of refuge from the bustle of the metropolis.
